Service Terms

Customer Responsibilities

The following customer responsibilities apply for:

  • One-time Website Projects

  • Annual Subscriptions for Website Maintenance and Support (hourly)

  • Annual Subscriptions for Website Maintenance only (flat rate)

 

ASU Web Standards Compliance

Through the implementation of data-driven web guidelines and standards, the university deploys highly effective strategies for information architecture, design, web analytics, search engine optimization and security. 

Your sites must be built in compliance with ASU web standards

It is the customer's and/or website steward's/owner’s responsibility to ensure continued compliance is met. 

 

ADA Compliance

Web accessibility means making your website and its contents accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities or the device that they are using. Webspark is built with accessibility in mind.  

It is the customer's and/or website steward's/owner's responsibility to ensure that all website content conforms with level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG); including any customizations that they may have authorized to be included on their website.

 

Acquia Web Hosting

Acquia web hosting cost is not included in SPA web maintenance support. Web hosting is invoiced separately from the SPA, unless otherwise specified. For more information please visit: 

 

Data Classification/Data Protection Privacy Standard

Acquia-hosted websites are not suited to collect/store highly sensitive information. Visit ASU IT Standards to learn more about:

It is the customer's and/or website steward's/owner’s responsibility to ensure continued compliance is met. Please work with the ASU Cybersecurity team if you have any questions. 

 

Visitation Analytics and SEO

Monitoring and managing visitation analytics and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) falls under purview of the customer and/or website steward/owner. Siteimprove is available to the university community to identify accessibility, SEO and quality assurance issues. 

If assistance is needed to implement fixes in these areas, the SPA customer and/or website steward/owner may submit a support ticket via the designated SPA support email.

 

Vulnerability Management

Website vulnerabilities must be addressed to ensure a strong security posture at Arizona State University. 

The customer and/or website steward/owner is responsible for the following: 

  • Collaborating with ASU Cybersecurity to gain access and training to applicable tools that will facilitate learning and understanding within their department. Learn more at Get Protected IT Vulnerabilities.
  • Requesting vulnerability scanning via Get Protected IT Vulnerabilities under “Web App Scanning”.  Please specify what environments (DEV, TEST, LIVE) shall be scanned and risk acceptance.

Website Content

The customer and/or website steward/owner is the content expert of their website(s) and must adhere to the current university policies for content. 

The customer and/or website steward/owner is responsible for user and content management, information/site architecture and compliance with best practices and standards as outlined by ASU’s Enterprise Brand Strategy and Management Web Standards and Guidelines

Siteimprove is available to the university community to identify accessibility, SEO and quality assurance issues.

 

Work Requests

Work requests must be emailed via the designated SPA support email address. Emailing a request to the designated email will automatically generate a ticket in the Web Services work queue. Tasks in the work queue are scheduled per developer availability in 2-week sprint cycles on a first-come-first-served basis.

 

Approval/Sign-off

Enterprise Technology will work with the customer and/or website steward/owner to ensure that sign off and approval occur for development deliverables. 

The customer and/or website steward/owner is responsible for reviewing and testing completed development work to ensure that deliverables look and function per expectations and scope. Written sign-off will be required.

 

Web Community

The customer and/or website steward/owner is responsible for following ASU’s Web Community communications and announcements to stay informed of the latest web related updates and initiatives. Learn more about ASU’s Web Community monthly meetings as well as Web Community and Unity Design Slack channels.
